What is RodentFest? A big gathering of all the region’s small pet fanciers. It started out as a way for local breeders to meet and exchange ideas and animals. It has grown to include judging, presentations, rescues, and more.

This gathering is an event for the entire family. Come see our assortment of small animals available for sale from reputable breeders or adopt a friend from one of our warm hearted rescues. Other small animal related items will be on hand as well, such as picture frames and hammocks. We’ll have everything from hamsters to rats and many in between.

There WILL be a formal show with judging! We’ve gotten one RSVP back from a rat judge and may have more.

Also, our own celebrity rat will be on hand for pictures with the children. Vincent was in scenes from the Reading based film, Wet Kiss. He’s owned by Jen Murphy from Reading, PA. Bring your love of animals and join us for a day a fun!

What sorts of animals will be there? You’ll meet people who keep/breed all sorts of small pets. We always have mice, rats and hamsters. We often have gerbils, guinea pigs and others. In fact, if it’s small and fuzzy, it could very well be at RodentFest!

Can I bring my own pets? Yes, however you MUST register with the club in advance if you’re bringing any animals to the event. This can be done via email (info@rodentсclub.com) or by telephone at 443-466-4087. We will add your name to our list, go over quarantine requrements, and answer any questions you might have.

How much does it cost to rent a table? RodentFest is usually a free event designed to bring animal lovers together, not a commercial event, so we normally cannot allow businesses to rent tables for selling items. For the Expo, tables are $20 if reserved and payment is received by May 1st, $25 after May first. We do not expect to have any empty tables, so they will be issued on a first come basis.

To reserve your table, please contact Lee Simms at Fxmmkpdiva@aol.com

What time do I need to arrive? Doors open at 10 AM. Please plan to stay the whole day! There’s a lot to do, but if you can only come for a part of the day, we’ll be delighted to see you.

I’m looking for a particular type of small animal. What’s the best way to find one at RodentFest? You have the best chance of finding the animal(s) you want by posting your request to the group in advance. Many Rodent Club members belong to the Yahoo “Mouse” group, which you can quickly and easily join at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mouse/. We also occasionally have group chats at which you can make requests. To be invited to chats, simply e-mail info@rodentcclub.com.

I have small animal(s) I’d like to find another home for. What’s the best way to find new owners at RodentFest? Again, the surest way to find homes for your small animals is to speak with potential new owners in advance; however, many adoptions take place entirely on the day of RodentFest. To find potential new owners in advance, consider joining the Yahoo “Mouse” group. You can quickly and easily join at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Mouse/. We also occasionally have group chats at which you can make requests. To be included in chat invitations, simply e-mail info@rodentcclub.com. Remember, if you are bringing animals to RodentFest, you must let us know in advance: call 443-466-4087 or e-mail info@rodentcclub.com.

What are the rules about quarantine? Some diseases and parasites are transferred from animal to animal. To help keep our small animals safe and healthy, a quarantine period is critical. Briefly, if you are bringing small animals to RodentFest, they must not have come in contact with other small animals of the same type for 3 weeks. Quarantine for the May 13th RodentFest will start on April 22. This means, for example, if you have mice or rats, you cannot have had any new mice or rats come into your colony since quarantine began AND you cannot have taken your mice and rats to another place (such as a pet store or another person’s home if they have mice or rats) since quarantine began. Remember, if you are bringing animals to RodentFest, you must let us know in advance: call 443-466-4087 or e-mail info@rodentcclub.com. When you contact us, we will go over quarantine requirements for your specific animal types.

Are animals ever turned away from RodentFest? If an animal appears to be healthy, parasite-free, and you’ve let us know in advance that you’re bringing animals, it will not be turned away. We cannot allow animals into the event that have parasites or open wounds. If the health checkers feel that an animal is potentially unsafe to the other animals at the event, it will be kept away from the healthy animals.

Do I need to pack my lunch? You’re welcome to! If there are extra tables you’re welcome to use them for snacking and relaxing.

I need more information… ? Email info@rodentcclub.com or call 443-466-4087.
